Officers responded to a possible narcotics violation at 718 McCallie Ave.

Police were called by a resident assistant who was advised that students were believed to be smoking in an apartment. Once the resident assistant arrived police knocked and announced their presence. They were allowed in by an apartment resident.

Once in the apartment police found that bedroom doors C and D were closed and the shower was running. At this point police knocked on the door of bedroom C and advised everyone to open the door and come out into the living room.

Two UTC students and three non-students came out of the room. Police went on to find two students hiding in the locked bathroom with the light off and one student hiding in the closet of bedroom D.

A marijuana odor was detected by police in bedroom C so it was searched. Police found what appeared to be a blunt roach in a glass candle holder but it could not be determined if it was marijuana.

The roach was flushed down the toilet. All non-students were charged with trespassing by UTC. The student hiding in the closet was expelled from the apartment.

The resident assistant said they are handling violations through the housing department.
